Singapore should have central government because it is too small to have fragmented power base where no one has enough to effect any change. The reasoning behind opposition to a strong central government is that poor policy can be contained to a single state rather than affecting the whole nation (US) but Singapore is so small that the repercussion will be felt. Plus we only have one trading port what is Serangoon going to do if Tuas screws up trade policy?
